?How Do I Get Started Buying an Albuquerque Home? is the first in a series of videos intended for first time home buyers here in Albuquerque NM. In this video, I describe the three steps you?ll take once you?ve decided that you?re ready to buy your first house.

Two main points I?m trying to make here are that buying a home is not a difficult process if you have the right help, if you have an advocate like me working for you, and that I will be there every step of the way in the transaction for you, even after you?ve found the right home to help you get seamlessly from contract to close.

?Buying an Albuquerque home is not really difficult to do once you understand the steps in the process. There?s really three main steps, the first one is you need to speak to a lender. I say that not because I want to make you jump through hoops before we get started, but I really want you to understand what your monthly payment is going to be and what you?re getting yourself into for the next six or seven years before we go looking at houses that are either too expensive or don?t meet your needs.

Once you?ve had that conversation with a lender then it?s time for me to interview you and try and find out exactly what you?re looking for in a home. Not every home is right every person I?m going to ask you questions about do you plan on having a family? A large family? Are schools important to you? Is it more of a lifestyle thing, do you want to be close to fun places for the weekend, bars or restaurants? Once I have that information I plug it into the computer and I send you listings that meet your needs, then you pick through them and tell me which ones you want to see. The days of ?the realtor putting you in the car, showing you the homes that they want to see is over, you really control that part of the process.

And then the third step is making an offer and I?ve done that hundreds of times, I make that all easy for you, we?ll sit down maybe take an hour or an hour and a half to talk about all the steps in the process. Of course I?m there for you every step of the way for you to explain when we have to order inspections, when the appraisal is going to get done, so that it?s really me managing that transaction.

So don?t be intimidated if you think it?s the right time to go buy a home, just remember the three steps: speak to a lender, speak with a Realtor and then get ready to have fun making your offer.?
